Whether as a gift for yourself or others, scented candles are the best choice! If you love reading, you will agree with me immediately! There is nothing better than reading quietly with a cup of hot chocolate while the scent of scented wax wafts into your favorite corner of the house to immerse yourself in another world between the pages. But whether you are reading, studying, relaxing or meditating, scented candles are essential to create a romantic atmosphere with yourself. So in this post we will show you how to prepare scented candles yourself at home.
Tools and ingredients you need to make scented candles
- Soy wax
- Fragrance oil, for example: oud, vanilla
- Wax dye
- A wick and a wick holder( wooden ice cream stick with a mug in the middle or a wick sticker)
- A candle mold or glass jar
- Digital scale
- Thermometer
- Stainless steel pouring pot
- A pot containing water
- Gas stove
How to prepare
First: Measure the weight of the amount of wax in grams of soy wax in the steel pot using a digital scale (we will weigh 270 grams in this guide) and put in a cup 6% of the amount of wax you want to melt (i.e. 16 grams) of fragrance oil.
Second: Place a pot of water on a low heat, and when it gets hot (before boiling), place the steel poring pot containing the wax in the pot, in addition to the thermometer in the pouring pot.
Third: While you are waiting for the wax to be completely melt, place the wick in the mold. You can make sure to fix it in the middle of the glass jar or container by using a wick sticker then control its direction with a wick holder for both mold and jar.
Fourth: When the temperature of the liquid wax reaches 75-85 degrees Celsius, turn off the fire and add some drops of coloring to it and stir the mixture a little, then the fragrance oil and stir it again.
Note: The color you apply to the liquid wax will noticeably lighten as the wax solidifies. Do not rely on its color when it is liquid.
Fifth: Wait until the temperature of the mixture reaches 57 degrees Celsius, then pour it into the mold or glass funnel.
Finally, you can remove the wax from the mold 6-7 hours after pouring and cut the edges of the wick then use it . And enjoy your homemade candles!
